Loose Jumping
Hound Hill Farm
Segensworth Road, Titchfield
|
|
Loose schooling over jumps is an excellent way to teach the horse to jump calmly, rhythmically and with impulsion.
This then teaches him to look after himself and develop a good style of jumping.
It is a very useful exercise for young horses, or those with jumping problems, especially rushing. It is also
used for improving the gymnastic capability and independent thought of the more experienced horse.
Sessions will be on an individual basis and last for 20 minutes. This is usually plenty of time, as it
is quite hard work for the horse. If you feel your horse will take longer to get to grips with the concept of loose
jumping, you have the option of booking two slots to allow a time of 40 minutes instead.
If you wish to book your horse for a session, please take note of the following:
· Loose jumping requires several helpers. You will be expected to
take an active role (and sometimes this can be harder work than riding!). Please bring a lunge whip with you.
· Your horse should be walked in hand, or lunged, for 10 minutes prior
to coming into the school for the loose schooling. Please make sure you allow time for this warm up period when booking
your time.
· The horse should be loose schooled in a headcollar and wearing
protective boots on front and back legs. Over reach boots are recommended on fronts as well.
· Have a generous handful of your horse’s favourite treats
with you. They soon work out how to get their reward!
Individual 20 minute sessions, starting at 3pm

Dressage - Scales of Training Exercises
Froxfield Stud
Alexander Lane, Privett
|
|
The Scales of Training are used as a guide in all British Dressage tests to judge the quality
and correctness of the horses training.
By improving your understanding of how the scales work together, you can move the horse forward
in its own understanding and ability. This will not only improve your dressage marks, but will give a much nicer, more
obedient horse to ride on the flat and over jumps.
During this session, we will work on exercises to improve the basic paces throughout school movements
found in Prelim and Novice dressage tests.

Dressage - Improving the riders seat and the horses way of going.
Hound Hill Farm
Segensworth Road, Titchfield
|
|
How the rider sits on the horse directly affects the quality of the work as a balanced rider
will produce a more balanced horse. It is possible to improve security and effectiveness in the saddle by using a variety
of exercises (including working without stirrups).
If the rider can develop feel, depth and independence in the seat, this will result in improved
balance and responsiveness in the horse.

Gymnastic Jumping
Froxfield Stud
Alexander Lane, Privett
|
|
This session will involve jumping a short grid and other exercises to improve athletic capability
and independent thought in the horse.
Height of the fences will depend on the standard of the group. Similar abilities will be
put together. Generally, the height of jumps in these sort of exercises is kept within an easy range for the horse,
as the exercises themselves increase the level of difficulty.
